Introduction to MOSFET

A metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistor (MOSFET, MOS-FET, or MOSFET) is a field-effect transistor (FET with an insulated gate) where the voltage determines the conductivity of this Transistor. It is mainly used for switching or amplifying signals. The ability to change conductivity with the amount of applied voltage can be used for amplifying or switching electronic signals. MOSFETs are now even more common than BJTs (bipolar junction transistors) in digital and analog circuits and it is widely used in audio amplifier circuits.

The MOSFET works in a very logical way among the other electronic components by electronically varying the width of the channel along which charge carriers flow (electrons or holes) so it provides better scalability of the working principle in the electronic devices. The charge carriers in the MOSFET enters the channel at source and exit via the drain. The width of the channel is controlled via the voltage on an electrode and this electrode is called gate which is located between source and drain. The gate is insulated from the channel near an extremely thin layer of metal oxide junction. The MOS capacity present in the device is the only main part for the MOSFET
