FAN6290 series Adaptive USB-C Charge Controllers The Fairchild Semiconductor FAN6290 series are compact secondary-side power adaptor controllers compatible with the USB-C Quick Charge 3.0 (QC3.0) protocol. Internally adopted synchronous rectifier controllers reduce additional part requirements and ease system design. Two internal operational amplifiers, tied together in open-drain configuration, control adaptive constant voltage and current outputs. The devices enable adaptive output voltage and current adjustment when a Quick Charge 3.0 protocol is acknowledged. In response to a request from a portable device battery charger, output voltage is adjusted up to 12 V. When portable devices that implement non-compliant protocols are attached, the default output of 5V is maintained for safety.
