Power Supply: Connect the Vcc pin to a stable power supply between 3.0V and 5.5V. Ensure that the power supply is clean and has adequate decoupling capacitors (typically 0.1μF and 10μF) placed close to the device.
Ground Connection: Ensure a solid ground connection for all components in the system to avoid noise issues and ensure reliable operation.
CAN Bus Termination: Use appropriate termination resistors on the CAN bus lines (typically 120Ω) at both ends of the bus to prevent signal reflections.
Data Transmission: The TJA1051T/3 supports data rates up to 1Mbps and is CAN FD capable. Ensure your application's bitrate settings are within these limits.
ESD Protection: While the device has an ESD rating of 8kV, it is still recommended to use proper PCB layout practices and additional protection circuits if operating in environments with high static electricity.
Operating Temperature: Ensure the device operates within the temperature range of -40°C to 125°C. Avoid exposing the device to temperatures outside this range to prevent damage or unreliable operation.
Standby Mode: To minimize power consumption, especially in battery-powered applications, utilize the standby mode where applicable. The typical standby current is 9μA at Vcc = 5V and TA = 25°C.
Signal Integrity: Pay attention to the differential input voltage (±2V) and common mode input voltage (-2V to 7V) specifications to ensure signal integrity and prevent damage to the device.
