Description
TDA2003 is a monolithic audio chip amplifier IC from STMicroelectronics which is mainly used in audio design circuits. This IC is widely used as a car radio audio amplifier and it can be operated in 8v -18v supply voltage and can deliver 10W to a maximum of 20W output power. Short circuit protection between all pins, low harmonic distortion, low cross over distortion, thermal overload protection is some of the special features in TDA2003.

Working principle of TDA2003
By connecting the audio signal that going to be amplified to pin number 1(non-inverting input) we can get the amplified audio output from pin number 4. Pin number 3(ground) and pin number 5(supply) use to power up the TDA2003.

· Performs better than TDA2002 (Pinto pin compatibility).

Built in protection System in TDA2003
· Load dump voltage surge protection –This protects the IC by withstanding a voltage pulse train.
· Short circuit protection system - Which withstands a permeant short circuit on the output for a supply voltage up to 16V.
· Polarity inversion protection system – This can handle the high current without damaging the TDA2003 for a long time.
· Open ground protection - Avoids damages occurred when the ground is accidentally opened.
· Inductive load Protection - Allows using TDA2003 with inductive loads such as using a coupling transformer for audio modulation.
· DC voltage protection – This can withstand voltage up to 28V without doing any damage to the IC.
· Thermal shut-down protection allows following advantages:
a) Even in a permanent overload on output, Oran excessive ambient temperature can withstand easily.
b) Smaller factor in the heat-sink compared with other ICs causes less device damage in instances such as excessive junction temperatures.
