Description
The 2SA1492 is a high quality, single chip, multiformat video decoder and graphics digitizer. This multiformat decoder supports the conversion of PAL, NTSC, and SECAM standards in the form of composite or S-video into a digital ITU-R BT.656 format.
2SA1492 PNP Power Transistor
The 2SA1492 is a general purpose PNP power transistor. It has three pins that are a) Base b) Emitter and c) Collector. The 2SA1492 comes with TO-3PN package and used for audio and general purpose.

Below in figure 1 is the pin assignment for 2SA1492. For correct use in circuit turn unflatten side of transistor towards your face on the left side at position 1 is Base then Collector and finally Emitter at right most.

Uses of 2SA1492:
A 2SA1492 as discussed, it is a 3 pins PNP power transistor. 2SA1492 is basically a general purpose transistor which we can use in various applications. Before using 2SA1492 PNP power transistor always see your requirements and then compare with different available transistor in different specification.
2SA1492 is a general purpose PNP transistor and used normally in audio amplifiers. The use of 2SA1492 is shown in figure 2 which is the schematic of basic amplifier of 300W Subwoofer power amplifier which is intend to use for 4 ohm load only and not more than 4 ohms load. The total DC is almost above 110 V which is therefore not recommended to design at beginner level because of different hazards and specially electric shock due to 110 V DC in this circuit.
If look in to the schematic we can see that the input is provided through 4.7 uF bipolar cap which provides enough capacitance in small size whereas, R1 and C2 act as a filter. To avoid dreaded turn on thump current sink Q1 is used in emitter circuit. To keep circuit functioning smoothly use heat sink for all three driver transistors (Q4, 5 and 6) and D2 and D3 should be in good thermal contact with the driver heat sink.

To use this circuit for continuous high power another 4 output transistors are required in same configuration as Q9, Q10, Q11 and Q12 with 0.1 ohm emitter resistors. Similarly we can use this transistor in many other ways.
Working of 2SA1492 PNP Transistor:
As mentioned earlier it is a 3 pin PNP power transistor. The small amount of base current control current between collector and emitter. A PNP transistor has two back to back diodes and the direction of the current flow is from emitter to collector in PNP transistor. For a PNP transistor to conduct it is must for emitter voltage to be more positive than base and collector voltages. The base terminal is biased negative with respect to emitter. Base current will flow in the PNP transistor when base current will be more negative than emitter.
