Introduction:
This is a 20W TO 140W Step down switching regulator. It is a member of the GS-R400 series made by SGS – Thomson Microelectronics. The GS-R405S is among the family of the GS-R400 series, which are a family of high current, high voltage step-down switching voltage regulators.
The heatsink integrated to the GS-R405S allows for a large power handling capacity and it also offers an effective shielding to minimize Electro Magnetic Interference (EMI). The GS-R405S electronic module case is isolated from the electrical circuit of the switching regulator. It can be grounded using the 4 corner pins. Another added advantage of the PCB area below the GS-R405S module is that it can be used as an effective sixth side shield against EMI.
