KBPC5010 Description
The KBPC5010 is a single-phase silicon bridge rectifier with diffused junction and metal case. The device KBPC5010 is a massive bridge rectifier consisting array of electronic components, which is present in most voltage sources; The bridge is formed regularly by 4 diodes, connected in a specific way, and its function is to transform the alternating current to direct current. This KBPC5010 bridge rectifier can handle up to 50A and a peak reverse voltage of up to 1000V. The metal casing has a hole in the middle – ideal for mounting it and this device has a minimum and maximum operating temperature of -50 to150 Celsius degrees respectively.

The rectifier measures 28.9*28.5*22mm overall and features 0.250″ quick disconnects. To use this part simply connect your positive DC line to the “+”, the negative or the ground to the “-”, and each of the AC lines to one of the “AC” Pins.

Working principle of KBPC5010
Bridge rectifier KBPC5010 is used to convert alternating current (AC) to direct current (DC). This device is constructed from at least 4 diodes and are a major component of most basic AC to DC converter power supplies.
The four diodes named D1 to D4 are arranged in “series pairs” with only two diodes conducting current during

each half cycle. In the Positive half cycle of the input AC waveform diodes D1 and D2 are forward biased and D3 and D4 are reverse biased. When the voltage, more than the threshold level of the diodes D1 and D2, start conducting then the load current starts flowing through it, as shown as red lines path in the diagram below.
In the negative half cycle of the input AC waveform, the diodes D3 and D4 are forward biased, and D1 and D2 are reverse biased. Load current starts to flow through the D3 and D4 diodes when these diodes starts to conduct as shown in the figure.
Positive Half Cycle Negative Half Cycle
As the current flowing through the load is unidirectional, so the voltage developed across the load is also unidirectional the same as in the two-diode full-wave rectifier. However, in reality, during each half cycle the current flows through two diodes instead of just one so the amplitude of the output voltage is two voltage drops less than the input Vmax amplitude. The ripple frequency is now becoming twice the supply frequency.
