This calculator estimates the maximum number of charge/discharge times based on the load current and battery capacity at a given depth of discharge.
This calculator is used for constant voltage trickle charger. For lithium manganese batteries (ML), the maximum number of charge/discharge (battery life) is affected by the depth of discharge (DoD). The calculator can estimate the life of the ML battery under the premise of a given depth of discharge. The calculator uses an estimated battery load to determine the backup time of the battery relative to the depth of discharge.
When the ML battery is used repeatedly, the capacity of the battery will gradually decrease when it is fully charged, that is, the time for the battery to discharge to the specified depth of discharge is gradually shortened. The calculator did not consider this factor, but the results obtained can be a good approximation of battery life.
This calculator uses the following formula
y = (a+b*x)/(1+c*x) or period = (a+b*DoD)/(1+c*DoD)
Simulate the relationship between the number of charge/discharge times and the depth of discharge, where a, b, and c are constants based on battery test data. The battery discharge time (hours) multiplied by the number of uses is the total discharge time (hours).
The input parameters are::
IBAT — The current consumed by the device when powered by a battery.
DoD — Depth of discharge, the percentage of battery discharged power to total battery capacity.
